What are Nematicides?

Types of Nematicides

There are several types of nematicides available, each with its own unique characteristics and uses. Some of the most common types of nematicides include:

• Fumigant Nematicides: These nematicides work by releasing a gas that kills nematodes in the soil. Examples of fumigant nematicides include methyl bromide and chloropicrin.
• Non-Fumigant Nematicides: These nematicides work by being absorbed by the plant and then released into the soil, where they can kill nematodes. Examples of non-fumigant nematicides include aldicarb and oxamyl.
• Organic Nematicides: These nematicides are derived from natural sources, such as plants and microorganisms, and can be used to control nematodes in a more environmentally friendly way. Examples of organic nematicides include neem oil and garlic extract.
